Vladimir Horowitz the eminent pianist who was called "Listz of  XX-th century", was born in Kyiv on October 1,1903. Vladimir Horowitz entered Kyiv Music College in 1913. He studied in classes of V.Pukhalsky, S.Tarnovsky, and F.Blumenfield. After graduation of Kyiv Conservatory in 1925 he made brilliant concert tours around Europe, and in 1928 Vladimir Horowitz moved to the United States where he continued to live for the rest of his life. 

Vladimir Horowitz, a prominent graduate of the R.M.Glier Higher Musical College, was honored by UNESCO in 1995, the 100th year after his birth. The same year, the first International Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz took place. More...
